How to use the printable sheets

Pick a level, then press Print or save as PDF. You get four math crossword puzzles, two to a page (one to a page on Expert), and a last page with the answers. In the print window you can choose a printer or “Save as PDF”. New puzzles makes a fresh set whenever you want more.

Under each board is the list of numbers that go in the blanks. Fill every empty box with one of them so that each equation, across and down, is true. Each number in the list is used once. On Expert, a few signs are blank too: the round boxes take a sign (+, −, × or ÷).

Which level to print

  • Easy: small boards with + and − only, numbers up to 20. Good for children from about age 7.
  • Medium: larger boards that add ×, numbers up to 50.
  • Hard: all four signs and numbers up to 100.
  • Expert: the largest boards, with some signs left blank as well.

For teachers and parents

Every puzzle has exactly one answer, and it can always be found by reasoning, with no guessing. That makes the sheets useful for practising number facts and checking work: hand out the puzzle pages and keep the answer page for yourself. The sheets are free to copy for a class or a family.
